The Team Diagnostic Assessment

This is a unique approach to working with teams that is unlike any in the marketplace. What sets it apart is that it regards the team as a “system,” a living dynamic organism that has characteristics that transcend those of any of the individual members. In this way, the team itself is seen as its own body with spoken and unspoken rules, vision, blind spots, expectations, and even moods! The team must be explored as its own entity, independent of the needs of any single member. The spirit of a team infects and influences the individuals and plays a significant role in how the team works together and what the team produces.

Birkman’s TeamWorks: Getting to the Heart of Team Functionality

Team focus and dynamics utilizing TeamWorks powered by the Birkman Method

Birkman TeamWorks™ is an integrated program of assessment, customized reports, curriculum and workbooks used for improving the effectiveness of teams. TeamWorks helps improve the functioning of teams in the following four areas:

  • Collaborating with others
  • Dealing with change
  • Organization and accountability
  • Productivity and decision making

While addressing these four functional areas, the TeamWorks program allows a team to work through such dysfunctions as:

  • Lack of trust
  • Quiet resistance (or passive-aggressive behaviors)
  • Feelings such as lack of belonging or solidarity
  • Low energy levels experienced in team activities

This goes beyond mere “ice breaking” or general awareness of personal styles —TeamWorks is true team building.

Each team member gets a 16 page report on the four behavioral competencies, each of which maintains a focus on: overall team operating style for each functional area; how the team is best supported by individual and group behaviors; insights on getting the team and each member to function at their full potential; and discussion points for each specific team member. The team facilitator report indicates the individual traits and behaviors of all of the team members.
